Ethiopia has exported goods worth $977 million during the first quarter of its budget year started July 8, 2022, said the Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration.
Presenting its performance report to the Ethiopian Parliament this afternoon, the Ministry indicated that it has achieved 88 percent of its earnings target for the period. Out of the total hard currency earned from export, $787 million is generated from agricultural commodities.
Ethiopia has earned $98 million, and $58 million by exporting manufactured goods and minerals respectively. Other commodities have generated some $30 million, according to the Ministry’s 3-month performance report.
It is indicated that the total commodity export earnings plan of the Ministry for the first quarter was $1.16 billion. Ethiopia’s annual export earnings from goods has been steadily increasing over the past few years reaching for the first time around $4.1 billion last budget year concluded July 7, 2022.
