Huawei set to launch coding, robotics training in Ethiopia

The Chinese top telecom company, Huawei, is set to launch coding, robotics training in Ethiopia that enables youth in different cities of the country benefit from digital technology.

Huawei’s DigiTruck Ethiopia project in partnership with the Ethiopian Ministry of Education and iCOg ACC aims to enable rural and remote areas to benefit from Digital Technology. The project will be launched tomorrow morning in the capital, Addis Ababa at Friendship Park, according to the information from Huawei office in Ethiopia.

The event will be attended by Mr. Chen Mingliang, CEO of Huawei Ethiopia, Prof. Birhanu Nega, Ethiopia Ministry of Education, Bethlehem Dessie, CEO iCOG ACC, senior government officials, Invited guests and members of the media.

The Digi Truck Ethiopia is the outcome of a long-term collaboration among Huawei Technologies Ethiopia, iCog-ACC, the Ministry of Education of Ethiopia, and Close the Gap Limited. The project will be undertaken as an effort to bridge the digital divide in Ethiopian schools.

The Digi Truck Ethiopia is a project that aims to conduct a country-wide coding tour across Ethiopian cities, delivering coding and robotics training and raising awareness about STEAM education for public school students using a truck equipped with a fully refurbished and digitized 40ft container as a training hub. As an initiative that builds community, the project is teaching students the skills to create, invent, inspire, and practically use them in daily life.

With Digi Truck Ethiopia, we are on a mission to provide students across the country with a digital learning platform where they can learn and practice programming, digital design, game development, and more at an early age, interactively and creatively.

The Digi Truck is designed to be powered by sunlight or electricity and is equipped with a range of 21st-century electronic gadgets for student learning and training, including laptop computers, robotic devices, and microelectronics.
